On November 28th 2017, Investigators from the Lake Superior Drug and Violent Crime Task Force and the Duluth Police Department arrested 39 year old Edell Jackson, of Duluth, and 30 year old Ashley Robinson, of Milwaukee, Wisc., following an investigation into the distribution of cocaine in the Twin Ports area. As a result of the investigation, investigators executed search warrants at apartments in the 100 block of North 56th Avenue West, the 2200 block of West 2nd Street and a motor vehicle. Jackson and Robinson were taken into custody without incident after being stopped by investigators in the 4800 block of Burning Tree Road. During the subsequent searches, investigators recovered approximately 177 grams of cocaine, including cocaine packaged for sale, drug packaging, digital scales and U.S. currency. Jackson and Robinson were lodged at the St. Louis County Jail.
On November 30th 2017, Edell Jackson was formally charged by the St. Louis County Attorney’s Office with 1st Degree Sale of a Controlled Substance and his bail was set at $200,000. Ashley Robinson was formally charged with 3rd Degree Sale of a Controlled Substance and her bail was set at $35,000.
At the time of his arrest, Edell Jackson was on supervised release from the Minnesota Department of Corrections. Jackson had been convicted in St. Louis County in 2012 following a Task Force investigation for 2nd Degree Sale of a Controlled Substance and 5th Degree Possession of a Controlled Substance and was sentenced as a career offender to 117 months in prison. Jackson was released from prison by the Minnesota Department of Corrections in May 2017, after serving approximately 77 months of his sentence. Jackson was scheduled to be on supervised release with Arrowhead Regional Corrections until 2020 for that conviction. Jackson also has a conviction in St. Louis County from 2011 for 2nd Degree Sale of a Controlled Substance for which he was sentenced to 78 months in prison.
The officers in the Lake Superior Drug and Violent Crime Task Force will continue their efforts to protect the citizens of Duluth and the Twin Ports from violent recidivist offenders.
ABC News reports, correcting their earlier report, that Michael Flynn is prepared to testify that Donald Trump directed him to contact the Russians as president-elect, not as a candidate. Reaching out to foreign governments during transitions is standard procedure.
