Hosing the Taxpayers: DFL Duluth Fire Department Union Letter ‘NO CUTS ARE ACCEPTABLE’

Mayor Larson is choosing to take money AWAY from the 2018 fire department budget for other city spending priorities (i.e. fixing streets).

UNION ACTIVITY ON THE TAXPAYER DIMEWe are asking CAPTAINS to ask the chief to visit stations and explain, face-to-face to our members, his plan for cutting the DFD.

Apparently, it is the positon of the DFD that the DFD exists solely to provide jobs for fullltime firemen.

Duluth taxpayers have been getting hosed by the DFD forever:

Former Duluth firefighter gets 17½ years in child pornography case http://www.duluthnewstribune.com/news/crime/3888954-former-duluth-firefighter-gets-17%C2%BD-years-child-pornography-case

I remember something about stripers doing a party at hall number 1 and one of the broke her ankle sliding down a pole at the hall. The city settled out of court.

They always have time for filling the boot, cooking contests and who knows what else!

    Then there is.

From the Duluth News Tribune Matter of Records a current firefighter has the following:

08/03/15 operating a motor vehicle with prohibited blood alcohol content
10/14/15 two counts of driving after revocation
04/14/17 Possession of drug paraphernalia and marijuana

During 2016 this firefighter has been operating a fire truck while on a work permit with state mandated breathalyzer/intoxilyzer in his personal vehicle.
What is disturbing about this is that this firefighter appears to have a drug and alcohol problem and is allowed to operate a 19 ton fire truck at high speed on the streets of Duluth.

I think you should mention his name.

    Another example of firefighter misbehavour

    08/28/2014 Driving Under the Influence
There have been numerous cases of him intoxicated while on duty
04/20/2017 Domestic abuse violation of an order for protection.
This firefighter has also not been disciplined for any of this; it is kept in house.
His immediate supervisor is the Captain/Union President.

Mr Polcat since fire dept discipline procedures are not made public….Just how do you know that he wasn’t disciplined? Are you a psychic or something? You seem to imply, he wasn’t charged or prosecuted for his violation of local laws…Was the above mentioned person charged and convicted? Maybe you are jealous that he has a career and pension?
